Fences in Palm Bay, Florida
Palm Bay is Brevard County's largest city, built out on the old General Development Corporation grid of platted quarter-acre lots.
Palm Bay's own code (§174.007, Fences and Walls) caps fences and walls outside the building lines at 4 ft in the front setback and 6 ft everywhere else; a corner lot can go up to 6 ft within its side-corner yard area.
On a corner lot, the code also has a visibility rule: nothing — wall, fence or hedge — may block the sight line between 2.5 ft and 10 ft above the street centerline grade within the sight triangle formed by the right-of-way lines.
Palm Bay's GDC-era platted grid means it's common to have a vacant lot next door, which changes the practical question of where the property line actually falls before any fence work starts.
A vacant lot next door changes the first step
On a GDC-platted block, confirming exactly where the recorded lot line sits is often the real first step, especially with an unbuilt lot beside you — a tax-roll parcel line is a record, not a survey, and a corner-lot fence has to clear the visibility rule above on top of that.
